The COVID-19 pandemic forced a lot of our students as well as faculty members to stay at home and physically out of college. In response to the situation, SIGC brought new changes/amendments to combat the effects caused during the lockdown.
An Institute with a higher student composition from lower socio-economic groups, it was indeed a difficult task to give a quality education during the lockdown period. Below are a few of our measures to fight COVID-19.
To make the learning process at home ICT enabled, We introduced GSuite -Best-In-Class Productivity Tools For Teaching And Learning.
As the COVID -19 pandemic led to Unemployment and the family's inability to meet their ends, We took the initiative of reducing the student term fee payment by 60% and prioritized student education.
To Facilitate easy admission, We have added the Online Admission Portal for ease in the admission process.
For students with no communication device, Our institution provided them with recorded videos of all the lectures for their offline use in the future.
In addition to the above, We arranged Webinars from Top Speakers/Industry Experts across the world to engage with the college students and expose them to global trends.
For teacher/faculty members
We created a Virtual Notice Board group for teacher/Faculty members to share official information about college and University communication.
We held Faculty Development programs using Gsuite to training our staff on Effective Online Teaching. We made sure all the teachers are familiar with ICT enabled learning and understand the technology/software involved for effective usage.
Even during the complete lockdown, We retained the faculty members providing them with full pay.
For society and more
We followed all precautionary measures adhering to the Govt of India to keep our environment safe and sound. We distributed all teaching and non-teaching staff with facemask and ensured proper hand sanitation facility. As a result, we are proud to be held accountable for zero corona cases to date.
During the difficult time Dr. Meena, Secretary of SIGC lent her complete support by providing food, Grocery to people in pirattiyur, Tvkoil, thideer Nagar, etc.
Through the above measures, We succeeded in reducing the adverse effect of covid and strived hard to provide the best quality education accessible to the students and bridge the physical gap as much as possible.
