Our fine arts team is unique in itself. The students of the team have represented the college in various competitions, and won laurels to the institution the most important of all is that they form a part of the Bharathidasan University team. There are trained exponents in folk and traditional dance.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ON WHEELS

The “IT on Wheels” project has been launched for taking the message of Computer and Communication Technologies to schools and self help group women in rural areas. During Saturdays, the special van visits the rural schools with the latest in the field of information technology including animation, multimedia etc., The concepts of internet and E-Mail and how internet could be used for good purpose was also explained to the students, who do not otherwise get a chance to keep track of the rapid changes in the field. And in the evenings, the above innovative project organizes a special meeting of SHG members in rural areas.

COMPUTER AIDED TOOL FOR DIFFERENTLY ENDOWED CHILDREN

Principal has found information technology an excellent tool for helping the differently endowed children. In collaboration with the Holy Cross Service Society for the handicapped, she has developed four tools for simple and standardized method of assessing the capacities of the deaf children below three years of age, mentally retarded children with minimum residual vision, and mathematical dyscalculia.

The tools have helped inclusive education and integrated education of the differently endowed, a cyring need of the hour, since the number of specialized institutions for teaching them, especially in rural areas is very small and qualified children to teach them are not available even in urban areas. A large number of primary school teachers, and teachers under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan have been trained to assess the capacities of the children using the computer tools.

COMPUTER TRAINING FOR THE CHILD LABOUR SPECIAL SCHOOL CHILDREN(CHEERS) UNDER THE NCLP PROJECT

Special Computer Awareness Programmes have been organized through the Child Labour Eradication, Elimination and Rehabilitation Society floated by the Trichirapalli District Administration. The specially prepared learning material will help such children to update their knowledge. And for the benefit of recognizing the entrepreneurial talents of the housewives, two computer-training programmes were organized exclusively for them on basics and higher level.
