AIDED TOOL FOR DIFFERENTLY ENDOWED CHILDREN
Principal has found information
technology an excellent tool for helping the differently endowed
children. In collaboration with the Holy Cross Service Society
for the handicapped, she has developed four tools for simple
and standardized method of assessing the capacities of the deaf
children below three years of age, mentally retarded children
with minimum residual vision, and mathematical dyscalculia.
The tools have helped
inclusive education and integrated education of the differently
endowed, a cyring need of the hour, since the number of specialized
institutions for teaching them, especially in rural areas is
very small and qualified children to teach them are not available
even in urban areas. A large number of primary school teachers,
and teachers under the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan have been trained
to assess the capacities of the children using the computer
tools.
