Our college has been gaining momentum by way of conducting workshops, seminars and symposia with novel ideas, attractive purposes, and appealing entries and with good zeal. Our institution is one of the few colleges to promote Entrepreneurship Development cell (EDC) in the college.

The institution is socially responsible and equally concerned about the students’ welfare and support in the upliftment of the students. Various services have been rendered to the students support services namely,

The Bharathidasan University on 5th March 2005 established the Institute for Entrepreneurship and career development (IECD) with a view to fill the serious gap in our educational system, viz.lack of opportunities for promoting entrepreneurship among the students. Even before that the institution had already conceived the area of promoting students cell for entrepreneurship and it was formed in November 2004 after gaining the motivation from the workshop conducted by the Department of Commerce on entrepreneurship development. There had been overwhelming response from the students of various departments of the College. At present there are 50 students who have registered their names to be the members of students’ cell for the entrepreneurship of our college who are getting trained in the following.

The above students are not only getting trained in the activities but are also capable of selling their finished products and making money. By gaining more knowledge about the painting and craft workshop conducted bby the entrepreneurship development cell, some of our students are appointed as hobby tutor in the Camlin (Pvt) Ltd, Ms.V.Saillaja of MBA has started the boutique and is also running a stitching unit by supplying garment to many reputed retailers.

Activities of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell
The entrepreneurship development cell and department of fashion technology jointly organized a two day workshop on Crochet for the students of all disciplines with Coats India, Chennai. The workshop was conducted on 27th and 28th of December 04. 200 students participated the workshop. The students were trained to make lace, table mats of different types.

Silk painting demonstration was conducted for members of the cell and the students of Fashion Technology with Fevicryl. Demo was regarding the different techniques like tieing method, Smudging method, Filling method, etc., the fancy trend of sticking stones to the fabric was also demonstrated to the students in the silk painting demonstration.

A stained Glass painting workshop was conducted for the students of Fashion Technology with Camlin (Pvt) Ltd., In this workshop the students were trained to paint on the plain glass pieces, pinned glass, glass bowels, glass plates and mirrors.

In continuation of these workshops the entrepreneurship development cell conducted a workshop on Doll making for the students of our college on 9th April 2005 in which training in making Fur Dolls was given to the participants. Around 75 students participated in the workshop.

In this one day workshop students from the various departments like Fashion Technology, Commerce, Microbiology, Computer Science and BBA successfully took part. The staff of Fashion Technology gave the nuances required in making such dolls. The participants involved themselves very actively and no time brought out their finished products. This was very appreciated by the Principal and all the staff present.
