The Career Guidance and Placement Cell of our college has been formed with the objective of the outgoing and outgone students of all disciplines to select career and placement they deserve. It is the brain child of our beloved Principal who is also the chairperson of the the same.
The Cell conducts special programmes for improving the professional skills of the students apart from helping them acquire communication skills and analytical abilities. Students exposure in the areas of taking on aptitude tests and attending interviews. For improving their English and communication skills short-term courses are conducted both in spoken and Written English in an effective manner.
Experts in various fields have been invited to conduct classes
for the students. Prof.G.Balakrishnan, Former vice principal and
Head, Department of English, St. Joseph's college conducted Bridge
courses and Personality Development programmes for the students
imparting Soft Skills.
CD ROMs... related to the above mentioned skills maintained skills
are also maintained and demonstrations are given at regular intervals
for the students of all courses for effective training as mentioned

SIGC's novel scheme is the release of the Placement Students'
Directory, the first of its kind. The directory, the first of
its kind. The directory includes a detailed profile of each post-graduate
student of our academic performance and her specialization. These
brochures have been mailed to important companies to make the
recruitment cess simple. Through this many have got good placement
tinuation of this, this year also the Placement Brochure leased
by Dr.C.Thangamuthu, our revered Vice-Chanoe Bharathidasan University
on 20.07.2004 in the prese Principal and our Secretary.
Many of our students are working as Software Engineers, programmer Analysts in various companies like INFOYSYS LTD., WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES, INFOTECH, ORACLE CORPORTATION, TECH FOUNDATIONS, TCS, HCL, MASCON GLOBAL LTD, GNIZANT TECHNOLOGY PVT LTD., - CHENNAI, ZENITH MPANY PVT LTD., - BOMBAY, and so on and a few are doing higher studies and research also. Our students are also well placed reputed educational institutions like school computing and IT, College, INTI Malaysia as lecturers.
Our Management course students every year are placed through campus recruitment in top 10 companies. They are specifically picked up from our campus at Managerial levels for organizations ICICI PRUDENTIAL, CITI FINANCIALS, KOTAK SECURITIES, CLIENT LOGIC-BANGALORE, HSBC-BANGALORE and so on. Besides we also place sides we also place our students through telephonic and teleconference interviews in the organizations like GECIS - Bangalore and PATCO Investments.
`Emitraa' is a consortium of Chennai based Medical Transcription Companies, registered with Software Technology Parks of India, Chenna.i, (STPI), a Govt. of India Organisation for promotion and development of IT Industries in Tamil Nadu. STPI has sponsored Emitraa to conduct Training Programme in Medical Transcription. In connection with this, Emitraa IT Services (P) Ltd., Chennai visited our campus to conduct a screening test for the selection of students to undergo "On-Campus Training In Medical Transcription" on 11.04.'05. Around 180 students from various disciplines (Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Applications, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics, and Physics) participated and around 80 of them were selected in the Screening Test. They are eligible to attend the "On-Campus Training Programme". This training be conducted in our college for the selected students for a period four months from May 2005. The students will attend the training full-time with minimum 85% attendance and score 85% marks - all training evaluation tests conducted periodically for successful completion. Those students who successfully complete "On-Campus Training In Medical Transcription" will be sent "On the Job Training" for two months and eventual placement as Medical Transcriptionist on a consolidated salary Rs.5,000/- P.M.
Orientation programmes are conducted regularly to train students to face the recruitment process, prior to interviews, in accordance with the requirements of the recruiting companies.

Apart from the On-Campus Programmes our students took part in
off-Campus programmes also. Our students took part in the opportunities

'THE HINDU" conducted OPPORTUNITIES FAIR in Chennai 15"
- 17th October 2004 and in Coimbatore on 26th and 27th February
2005 wherein more than fifty National and Multinational companies
took part in which our students participated. Some of our students
got selected in the written test in the above fairs and are a
interviews.
Quite a number of our students have succeeded in gaining placement and making a good career.
All the above Placement Activities were carried out only because of the Infrastructure Facilities provided by the Management the keen and continued effort of our Principal, Chairperson of the Cell by mailing and coordinating with the various organizations the Career Guidance and Placement cell is able to seek and the right placement for our students in various reputed organisations.
Many pre-placement talks, aptitude tests, interviews and discussions have enhanced confidence in the students and we are happy to put-forth that quite a number of students who faced placement programmes have been employed with a good footing and package.
There is considerable scope for moulding the technical aspect
of various concepts while teaching the regular lessons. The Pre
Placement Training imparted to the outgone students is one of
healthy practices of the Cell. Thus the Career Guidance and placement
Cell has been a Jewel on the Crown of Shrimati Indira College.
